Mr. G C Hung

Senior Vice President, UMC

G C Hung is Senior Vice President of Technology & Business Development at UMC, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the company’s corporate strategy, customer engineering, and corporate marketing initiatives. He also leads the overall corporate R&D activities focusing on module development, process integration, model/design kit and design support.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Hung served as Vice President of Technology Development at UMC, during which he successfully delivered critical projects that positioned UMC as a leader in specialty technologies. Achievements include the development of UMC’s industry-leading 22/28nm high voltage solutions and the establishment of a product line management platform that supported the company’s focus on differentiated specialty processes. Under his leadership, UMC also developed and brought 14nm FinFET technology to mass production and is currently building a new 12nm platform in collaboration with Intel.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Hung held various roles at UMC, including deputy director of 8-inch and 12-inch fab operations. He began his career as a lithography module engineer, process integration engineer, accumulating deep expertise in process unit module and integration development.

Demonstrating commitment to industry advancement, Mr. Hung acted as co-chair of SEMI Taiwan’s IC Committee from 2019 to 2022. He holds a Master of Chemical Engineering degree from National Taiwan University.
