We hope this email finds you, your family, and colleagues well and safe!
As you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has had an enormous adverse impact on the world since the beginning 2020. While Taiwan had the pandemic reasonably well contained before, unfortunately, there has been a surge of COVID-19 cases starting in the beginning of May. The government has raised the epidemic alert to Level 3, leading to the closure of facilities for large gatherings, such as exhibitions and conferences. However, the number of confirmed cases dropped around mid-June, as increasing number of vaccinations are being administered.
Accordingly, today SEMI announces the rescheduling of SEMICON Taiwan to December 2021. We are actively working on a contingency plan for rescheduling of the event and will make an official announcement of the new date for SEMICON Taiwan around mid-August. At the same time, we will e-mail an update to the primary contact of your company. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change and thank you for your understanding and support. We would like to emphasize that your, your families and colleague’s well-being remains our top concern.
From a business standpoint, in 2020, Taiwan’s semiconductor industry achieved a record output value topping NT$ 3 trillion (US $107.5 billion). Taiwan is expected to build on that performance and carry that growth momentum through 2021, setting the stage for SEMICON Taiwan as one of the most anticipated events in the global microelectronics community. Every year, professionals look forward to seeing the latest technologies, hearing insights from prominent industry leaders, conducting business, and networking with peers at the event. Exhibitors such as ASM, Disco, Hermes-Epitek, K&S and Lintec express their utmost support for the rescheduled SEMICON Taiwan under the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) instruction for large events.
In order to bring you a safe SEMICON Taiwan, SEMI will keep monitoring the pandemic situation, follow CECC’s regulations and guidelines, and strictly implement prevention measures in the exhibition hall to ensure a safe environment.
Thank you again for your continuous support and participation in SEMICON Taiwan. We wish you good health and look forward to being together at the rescheduled event.
Best regards,
SEMI Taiwan
