Dr. Christopher Lobley
VP Engineering, Edwards Vacuum, part of the Atlas Copco Group
Chris works in the Semiconductor Services Division of Edwards Vacuum, after over 2 decades of experience in the Aerospace industry designing, manufacturing and assembling successive families of increasingly fuel-efficient and low-emission propulsion systems. In Edwards, his role leads a world-class engineering function that supports sustainable, profitable, inclusive output for the Semiconductor Service business. He sets the overall engineering strategy for the division, fostering a process of innovation and continuous product improvement for the engineering design and sustaining activities that support our market-leading Field Service and Service Technology Centre organisations.
Working closely with his counterparts in the Semiconductor and Semiconductor Chamber Solutions Divisions, Chris ensures that each New Product Introduction programme has clear ‘design for service’ principles applied to their design and development, leveraging operational data and customer insights to maximise the uptime, the efficiency for planned maintenance activities, and the longterm durability of our products in customer operation.
A keen supporter of STEM and early careers activities, he has proven experience of implementing sustainable business objectives working across global, functional and cultural boundaries.
Chris holds a BEng (Hons) degree in Aeronautical Engineering, and a PhD in Materials Science from the University of London. Outside of work, Chris enjoys travel, music, spending time with his family, and outdoor pursuits including hiking.
